How it Works For Non-Profits

• Any member in good standing may nominate one nonprofit for consideration each year. Nominations must be submitted 4 weeks before an event to be considered for that quarter’s donation.

• The leadership team vets nominated nonprofits for eligibility. Eligible nonprofits may be asked to provide their 501(c)(3) determination letter from the IRS. They must also serve Orange County.

• The leadership team will randomly select three of the nominated nonprofits prior to each event. The selected charities will be invited to each give a 5-minute presentation, followed by a 5-minute Q&A.

• After the three nonprofit presentations, each member will vote for one of the three charities. Voting will take place by secret ballot; the nonprofit that receives the most votes will receive all of the donations. Members must be present to vote.

• Each member writes a check for $100 to the recipient charity for a total group donation of $10,000+.

• Members who did not vote for the chosen nonprofit agree to make their donation regardless. A member can, of course, donate their money or time privately to the other two charities if she wishes.

• Members who are not present at the event agree to still donate to the selected charity. Our payment platform is Grapevine. There is a small transaction fee charged for each payment. Members may choose to make a one-time donation, or a recurring donation. Donations are processed from your account on the 4th of the month following our meetings, which means they will be processed on February 4th, May 4th, August 4th, and November 4th.

•The charity agrees not to contact members except for tax purposes (unless members consent) and may not give out member information to third parties.

• Recipient charities will be eligible to be nominated again in three years. Nonprofits that were selected for presentations but weren’t selected for the donation will be eligible to be nominated again in one year.

• Nonprofits that aren’t chosen to give presentations will remain in the selection pool for future meetings.
